I used to be a separate checks lady, but some male friends said that can send the message that I'm not interested. So, now I let the gentleman decide.

If it's a medical issue, you may be able to get accommodations which (at least at my CC) are officially recorded and instructors are required to give.

I have penalties depending on the class. I almost never get a late paper that would have been an A paper. Usually the weeks or months late paper is still so shoddy that it gets a D or an F (depending on just how ridiculously late it was) and I get on with my life.

After one year of college teaching, I'm so sick of excuses. Just the sheer egocentrism of it pisses me off, since many of my students who give excuses seem to think that they're the only ones who have ever had "a lot of stuff going on right now."

As someone on the Gen X/Millennial border, my debt worries and terrifies me. If not for my student loan debt, it'd be much easier for me to scrape by on the crappy jobs that require a master's degree (which in my case=debt).

Almost everyone I know is either married or living with their parents.

And they probably won't even remember.
