Those are great suggestions! I'd add one more I've always done, which is to use your mirrors and establish a mental picture of the traffic behind you. Who is moving up quickly? If you have to change lanes suddenly, is there a space open to do it? Things like that.
OK, I’ll throw on my old man hat (I’m 66, so it is pretty near to hand). How about the funny way young people hold a pencil? ;)
Wondering how Mercedes will do, since their garage is at the low end of pit lane. Winds at this time aren’t forecast to be too bad, but getting several inches of rain will test how well everyone’s support equipment is waterproofed.
We here in Florida go through the potential of this every year for hurricane season, the possibility of being without power, food and water for days. Pretty much every media outlet does a series of programs in June to remind everyone of things you need to do to prepare. The reminder about prescription medicines is…
An old Russian proverb, “The best is the enemy of the good enough”.
Yeah, it [LA Noire] played fine on win7 like 7 years ago, but I haven’t gotten it to even boot up since win10 has been around.
Every since I had to give up my Mercury Grand Marquis and get a minivan for work and traveling I’ve secretly wanted the new Continental. And now I’m lusting for it.
I don’t see how LA Noire will work on their launcher if it still doesn’t work via steam or anywhere else.
Speaking of F-4 Phantoms, back in 1972 I attended Transpo ‘72 at Dulles, outside Washington DC. IIRC both the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels were flying Phantoms and it was pretty amazing, especially when they would go into a formation zoom climb with all lit afterburners.
I got one of these they last time they were on sale. Very nice item, good quality materials and assembly. I’ve also purchased their larger case which can hold a 10" tablet and it is also very nice.

I’ve long held a theory that spelling is a talent rather than a skill.
My handwriting is bad but it’s a problem of micro-tremors. I never had any issues with school other than penmanship and spelling. Oh, and I can’t catch a ball worth a damn. But I was really good at tennis, bowling and fencing, so I did fine with PE in college :)
Had to correct that title for you for accuracy’s sake. I can’t spell worth a damn (thank goodness for spell check) but my wife is a freaking spelling genius. It’s scary actually. Something to do with nuns and rulers.
I just love how the price of gas purchased months ago is somehow affected by an event that happened days ago.
So, probably more tense than forgetting where you’re parked in the mall lot? Probably.
I was in college when I discovered classical and opera. I never did get too much into opera, but I had pretty much the whole set of classical recordings released on LP by Columbia and listened to them a lot. After a couple of decades I wasn’t as interested, but I converted the LPs to MP3 and occasionally listen to…
I find this with people who just stop listening to new music. I seriously don’t know how people live listening to the same 100-ish songs from age 25 until they die.
Excellent article! This is the first time I can remember any mention in the media of having hearing protection to mitigate the noise of crying. A copy of this ought to be handed out to new parents leaving the hospital.
Josh, that’s a lot of good info you put together. The only things missing are suggestions for a good drinking game to accompany the debate.
