I wasn’t being critical of her nor was I saying she was trying to imply rules were needed, in fact I agree with much of what she says. I was taking the topic and taking it one step further in my mind and attempting to process it. In fact, I said that I think more critique is needed.

I think it was more of a necessity in older RPGs from the late 80's and 90's. I have run a few times in Setsuna, though. I’ve gotten pretty low and accidentally ran into crazy powerful monsters while trying to get to a place to save.

That was the first true RPG I ever played. Oh yeah, I ran like Forrest Gump in some regions when I was underpowered.
