It's not proprietary- Apple just happens to be the first ones to use it.

Where's Retro Game Master?

Yeah.. I think Adobe owns the name 'Actionscript'. ;)

Does anyone else remember when we were promised Toy Story 2 quality visuals from the PS2?

And, hate to nitpick, but Photoshop does actually have spell check. I think they added it around version 6 or so. Of course, it only checks editable text that hasn't been rendered as pixels.

@Aaron Huebner: While I totally agree having widgets or something like 'live tiles' would be great, Apple has to be very careful at what changes they do with iOS's interface. The major advantage to all that extra space is it's very clean and it appears to be less confusing for the non-techies. iOS is the rare chance

@Arcane: Yeah, Apple likes to release their products as quickly as possible to keep sales going. They typically only announce new hardware with long delays until it reaches market if its a brand new product. They did this with the iPad, Apple TV (at that time, called iTV) , and iPhone. Seeing how the iPad is out -

Yeah, I used to say 'jif' for years. I think finally gave in the to 'gif' pronunciation after realizing I was the only person saying it that way.

@KamWrex: No, that gray, bulky, low-res handheld was not cutting edge in 1989. If you want to see 1989 cutting-edge- look at the Atari Lynx or the Turbo Express.

I've had my Macbook Pro for nearly 5 years and I don't think I've ever run into that problem... I think I usually start with the brick on the floor to begin with, though.

I know I'm not the first one to say this here, but I'm sure this will be rolled out with the iPad 2. The iPad 1 will probably get it too- but they want to hold off until the new one gets released. 4.3 is to let developers update their apps if it conflicts with their UIs, then they'll probably roll out 4.5 with the

@hvrock13: I see your point- maybe it's a little over-kill, but this is about an emerging computing platform. Android and WM7 fall in the same category. The iPhone ushered in this age for consumers (Post-PC) so it's still synonymous with this new era. It does a lot more than Facebook/Twitter.

I became a father a couple months ago. I bought a Kinect the same week. I've barely played it. I got 3 games for Christmas- none of which I've played. On the other hand- I've done more iPhone gaming in the last 2 months than past 2 years combined. Being able to jump in and out of a game quickly is great- plus I

What will likely happen is Apple will announce in June that AT&T will get the iPhone 4 in June and Verizon will get it in September. I wouldn't be surprised if the negotiations to end the AT&T exclusivity deal a year early (2011 instead of 2012) gave AT&T a short exclusive window for the iPhone 5. This also means

@peesauce: The mentioned Android more than iOS in this.

pretty cool, but the one at 1:15 has been debunked as an alternate angle for a commercial shoot on other forums.

I picked up the D110 from Amazon for $60- not a bad price at all. It came yesterday and I've been impressed so far. I've printed from two iPhones so far- but no iPads. Once the printer was connected to my wifi network (which you do straight from the printer, no computer needed for setup), the iPhones printed to it

I was more of a Star Voyager player on the Atari.. of course, I was 3 and I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do... they looked kinda similar.

@GoldenLink: There are a lot of great games for the iPhone that are good despite the touch screen. I'll admit I'm an iPhone fan, but the touch screen does get to me sometimes. It just all depends how much thought the game designers put into the controls. There are several games that I forget I'm using a touch

It's not always an safe assumption that because a device is more powerful, that it will require more juice. If that was the case, our computers today would require insane amounts of power compared to a computer for 15 years ago. It really comes down to the processor architecture and what you do with multiple
