I think there was a decent amount of retconning in the beginning between the novels, the manga, and the actual animated material, but I'm pretty sure the prevailing reason was always that his suit was red and that he wiped out five ships in really short order.

Otherwise, why even both with the high-mobility

Not exactly.

So, basically, Gundam is a metaverse; the central timeline is called the Universal Century about between 1/3rd to 1/2 of all animated material falls within that unified timeline..... granted the late UC stuff (F91 and Victory) is so outside the realm of what happens between MS:G and Unicorn that it may as

"between Zion and the Earth Federation "

Little, uh, slip there, James? That aside, Sieg Zeon!

I was going to make a strip-o-gram joke but, according to wikipedia, it's totally a real thing.

Would anyone ever suggest that a monarchy run chiefly by a first minister is a republic? Not really. Regardless of who actually held power, the monarch is the monarch and that was not her. Ceremonially, she even went out of her way to underscore that she was a consort and thus (theoretically) subservient to her

Slight correction, she actually never ruled the empire, at least not openly; her husband, Francis I, was the actual Kaiser while she was his consort.

The sad thing is, they're not even really about the middle ages.

Hey, at the very least he's his own character and not an established one in black-face. Changing race on, say, Johnny Storm in the new FF movie is decidedly worse than using an alternative Spiderman.

and here I was more bothered by the fact that he said "high" instead of "low" since measuring consumption per distance is traveled is all about getting as low a number as possible.

This comes to mind.

Is his acting actually okay though? While he's apparently a great guy, and clearly an excellent body builder, that doesn't necessarily mean he's a good actor.

Which is why you don't do Arthur and his Merry Men? Seriously, fuck Geoffrey of Monmouth. Just use the old Welsh sources and you've got something that'll translate well to a modern gritty reboot; better yet, create a shared universe that you can populate with other Celtic stories that nobody really learns about.

Wasn't Spartacus on Starz? That had WAY more rape than GoT even if you discount the "slaves can't really consent" part.

Isn't the simple answer that languages are basically going to reflect the changes, or lack thereof, in political boundaries? I don't see any independent nation larger than Luxembourg giving up their language; Albania certainly isn't going to wake up one day and go "you know what, we should become Slavs now, and speak

There's a lecture by Andres Duany, a notable city planner, where, back in the '80s, he says that traffic will almost always grow to meet capacity. You simply have to decide whether you want gridlock at 2, 4, 8, 20, or 40 lanes; apparently Miami was thinking about a super super super highway expansion to i-95 back in

The near-nudity is a metaphor. Not even kidding.

I dunno, I thought the origin was pretty tedious. Some heroes need their origins explained, others can make do with flashbacks... or just go full Guardians of the Galaxy and say "fuck back stories, we're just going to pretend like this is normal". For FF, I'd prefer a mix of 2 and 3.

The writing, however, was

Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron

While it's far more recent than the Jetsons, there's a show that actually needs Michael Bay to direct the movie version, it'd be perfect. It's just so naturally campy and absurd, and it even demands the kinds of cinematography (the actual shooting and the explosions) that he's known for.

You're right, although it does have a few GP-01 parts like the shoulders and the skirts... possibly the legs. For the most part, the legs are actually quite similar. Chest is definitely Dendrobium, though.

Edit: Okay, realized I was wrong. It's GP-03 based with GP-01 shoulders and maybe a few other parts.
