I have been travelling to Europe at least twice a year since late 90's. I have never been asked for an IDP. All they ever ask for is my Passport and US Drivers License. I have been pulled over too, never asked. They have checked my passport each time.

I had a similar accident happen 13 years ago (not that I am counting). Had jack stands but not the best paved driveway. Jack stand collapsed and crushed my chest. Luckily I had a friend helping me that was able to quickly jack car up and call 911. I got to take a nice helicopter tour of the city to the trauma unit.…
