We take this one step further. Buy like 10-20 pounds of chicken breasts, thighs, whatever. Portion them out into ziplocks (for us, we do 3 pounds) and then pour in one of the marinades. Lay flat and freeze.

Giving a gift card or cash feels dirty to me; like we are now in some sort of transaction between friends/family. I am not a charity, and my friends/family are not looking for handouts. That said, I like to give consumables, mostly homemade, that I think most people would find utility in.
