"App stores" have been in Linux distributions for years.
I find it easiest to use the Classic Start Menu application so that I can use the classic startmenu (from the win2K days, but in a windows 7 style with search) by clicking the start button, and then if I want to use Metro, activate the Start/Search/Devices etc menu and click Start.
