No, they've said several times in interviews that it's a ten episode season. 

Last year I saw the film “Nocturama” and there’s a scene where “Whip My Hair” started playing and I realized then just how much I genuinely enjoyed this eight year old pop song performed by a ten year old girl.

It's not on Seinfeld's level but I definitely consider it superior to Friends.
