inb4 idiots praising this move. You cannot compare what happened in Kansas to this. Kansas was pure racing. Joey held his line, Kenseth blocked an got spun. Kenseth, the classless asshole he is, just intentionally wrecked the leader.

They never got around for the minimum speed requirement. He maintained caution car speed. The minimum speed is the slowest qualifying time. He would have to make a lap for them to determine that. For all you know the acceleration was hurt on that car but could eventually get up to somewhat of a race speed.
Why would he do that with 2 laps to go? He wouldn’t and NASCAR wasn’t going to penalize him because the race would have to go back green for them to know he wasn’t going to meet minimum speed (which is the slowest qualifying time not a particular MPH) and by that point there would have been a lap left.
How? He kept caution car pace so no reason to penalize. And even if he couldn’t accelerate like the rest he could still have gotten the car up to somewhat of race speed and limp around for the last 2 lap. NASCAR isn’t going to black flag him just because he says on the radio the car won’t go.
Yeah he as trying to get up and out of the way. No radio evidence suggests it was intentional.
Then how could NASCAR not penalize Newman for walling Larson on the last lap of Phoenix last year to make the final round? IF it was intentional (no hard evidence to say it was), he was just doing what he needed to do. According to Brian France, thats perfectly fine.
Yes and the gas man is supposed to leave the can in until the very last possible second to get all the fuel they can. Sometimes they can get it released with no issues other times it gets caught.
Logano would’ve passed him on the frontstretch before that if Kenseth wasn’t blocking and he even blocked logano into the wall. Hell he would have passed him 5 laps prior to that if Kenseth hadn’t been blocking. Block me once, shame on me. Block me twice, shame on you. Block me 3+ times, tough shit.
He is not obligated to do anything. He chose his line into the corner and Kenseth moved down to block. Thats on Kenseth. Logano certainly was not going to lift going for a win with less than 5 to go and not after Kenseth had blocked him into the wall on the frontstretch right before that.
Logano held his position, Kenseth blocked and he got bit in the ass for it. Why should Logano let off and just hand Kenseth the win? There was less than 5 to go, and any respectable driver wouldn’t just lay down. And Kenseth has made similar moves before.
I think it’s cute that you feel racing has to be anything other that NASCAR to be “respectable”
Blocking is a racing move and holding your line is too. Joey held his line and Kenseth tried blocking a third time and it bit him in the ass. And it’s not like Kenseth hasn’t pulled that same move before
Doubt it happens next week, if at all. Joey has nothing to lose next week and kenseth must win to advance. Can’t be screwing around
Next week should be dramatic
Joey held his position in the corner and with less than 5 to go, I wouldn’t try to avoid it either. Regan Smith on the other hand just flat out drove Tagliani almost off the track
That is racing. You can win and lose by the block and Kenseth lost.
I know, right? I have some nerve.....
I did the most novel thing. I woke up after the race had ended, stayed off twitter and Jalopnik, and watched the race on the DVR. And guess what... nothing was spoiled. How easy was that?
The problem that people have with Brad getting penalized is Jeff Gordon did the exact same thing the previous week at Chicago and wasn’t penalized. That’s where the controversy is. If Jeff was penalized the previous week then there wouldn’t be an issue.
Richmond is one of those interesting places that the restart zone, it’s on the wall and it’s on the inside wall and it’s still in the corner. On the inside it’s here and on the outside it’s there. I was looking at the inside wall, and I probably went a few feet before the inside mark. But it was right in the vicinity.…
