It means something super specific in Overwatch: He’s saying that her weapon falls into the ‘projectile’ category of weapons rather than the ‘hitscan’ category of weapons.

When did “queer” become an acceptable word to refer to LGBT people? I’ve always thought of it being a derogatory term like “faggot” (at least that’s how it’s seen where I’m from).

I second this. While the Gawker take-down brought in some writers with underwhelming skills, you’re definately the opposite. I like the spin you put on stories, even if the games itself are sometimes not interesting to me in themselves (like this one or mobile games).
