Its essentially a proven fact that limiting access to abortion does not have any impact on people’s sexual behavior. All it does is increase the pregnancy rate. All the sexual education (of which I’m sure there is more than enough at a school like Berkeley) can’t change the fact that birth control fails, condoms fail,

You put it indelicately (and got into problematic territory) which makes it seem like you’re going the “loose women out there getting pregnant without consequences” route, and on this site you’re going to catch a ton of flak for that... but I see what you’re trying to say (I think).

Because that would’ve required some level of critical thought to address your points.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. To your points:

If it makes you feel any better, I’m a man and asked for a raise a few months ago and got laughed at as well.

Honestly, if they ask for receipts I’m sure they’ll find some discrepancies and people not following the law... but the reality is, that it still won’t be enough to close the gap.

So the article doesn’t quote the full passage from the decision. This made me go ??? so I looked it up. First paragraph of page 8. She apparently testified that the abuse had started in 2005, and then signed the agreement in 2008. So legally, yes, foreseeable.

I’m gonna be honest. I don’t hear it at ALL.

I’m pretty sure there are women in The Shins and Broken Social Scene also

Well said. Seems like this was just a reason to get enraged on a slow news day.

Waaaaahhhh! Men are everywhere! Terrible, terrible men!

BUT BUT OUTRAGE@!?!

So like Lilith Fair, but with dudes? What’s the problem?

Yes! It’s totally worth correcting if the article is about a lack of female representation and the author fails to represent one of the women.

Music fests are a dime a dozen. Who cares if one is male leaning. Seriously, is this the hill you want to die on? (And, no, I would not go near this fest even if you paid me. There isn’t a single act that I would want to see. Luckily, like I said there are a ton of other festivals for me to choose from.)

only four women are included as a solo artist or as part of a band: the fantastic Alabama Shakes (led by singer/guitarist Brittany Howard), Calabasas rock band The Mowgli’s (which features singer/percussionist Katie Earl), and solo artists Alice Smith and ZZ Ward.

Honestly, I feel like moral outrage at such a thing could be better directed elsewhere. Its not like public money is funding this. They clearly have a target demographic, and, I guess, its not women. Meh.

Uh, so dont go if you dont like it.

Casey Affleck was brilliant in Manchester by the Sea and absolutely deserved his Oscar. I don’t know where I would draw the line at not seeing great art because of the conduct of the artist, but to me at least, Casey Affleck didn’t cross that line.

Hold on....yes, this week we hate her.
