I kind of am disturbed though by anyone setting standards of behaviour they don’t abide by. Quite frankly its one of the worse things that Trump does. People were calling Kellyanne Conway a slut and all this crap because she dated an old dude in her thirties. That really isn’t a policy issue to be concerned about and

I think we “owe” it to her not to criticize her based on her physical looks. She is a morally repellent sycophant who is trying to put a veneer of normalcy on a madman; that is enough to comment on without resorting to using patriarchal beauty standards against her.

OP didn’t say men tie their happiness to anything. He never mentioned happiness in his comment at all.

Absurdist Words made a great point on Twitter a while back that the coupling of sexual conquest to masculine identity is toxic because it renders a man’s identity as an adult to factors outside himself.

One does not become a man through responsibility or diligence in his professional or personal life, nor his

No, I was actually right here, paying attention to the news.

Cool that you think that, but it’s still immaterial to Hillary’s humiliating loss.
And where did I suggest that she had to keep her emotions in check?

Look, I COMPLETELY understand why she would stay away from the public eye after such a humiliating loss. I know that if she were me, I would be devistated and heartbroken, barely able to climb out of bed or eat.

“The future is female”..... what the fuck ever.

Your arguments against Lyft:

1) They have conservative investors - I am struggling to name a corporation that doesn’t have conservative investors. The ideology of a few minor investors should have no bearing on whether you should use a company’s services. A startup company generally looks at money wherever it can

Uhhhhh

Agreed. “Delete Uber!” is the kind of bullshit (and easy) thing that someone can do in order to crow on social media and feel good for a minute. But in the big picture, it is meaningless.

Lol at your cab hailing app being a political statement

Not to mention the reduction in drunk driving accidents since their inception.

As you said, Uber is and has always been a shittily minded company and if the number of limply investigated crimes against passengers and poor treatment of drivers hasn’t been enough to force you to delete it to date, certainly do it now.

If I didn’t know better, this sounds like an argument that was used for the 2016 Presidential election, one really really bad option vs. a not great/but not awful option (and we all know how that turned out).

I do think it’s fair to say that a part of the popularity of Uber & Lyft have to do with the archaic system by which taxi companies tend to be governed in major cities and also the simplicity and convenience of the platform they developed when compared to traditional ride hailing techniques.

I don’t have Uber of Lyft in my area, so I don’t have a horse in this race. But I do know that there are people out there who only have access to Uber, and chiding them for not boycotting is just rotten and awful.

The hate for this movie only exists on Jezebel.

Honestly I quite enjoyed La La Land and I think the backlash is kinda ridiculous. Fite me irl?

So how exactly do you think people organize if there’s never a starting point? This was a starting point. It was two days ago. Try not being a dick to people who are deciding they need to get involved.
