I think you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think the same dynamics were at play in terms of humanity’s susceptibility to propaganda. Leaders rising to power on the back of propaganda driven populism that plays on nativist fears the way Trump did is not a new thing at all.

I wouldn’t say that the 20 million people who got health insurance for the first time, or the 15 million who found jobs, or the middle class workers who saw the biggest year-over-year earnings jump in history, were screwed by Obama.
