First, now that I know you’re not a ref, we can continue this in good faith lol. I think this is a debatable point and it is interesting to see the other side. I just don’t argue this with refs because they have a terrible point of view on all this.

No. This is the worst take. They are OUTSIDE the game arbitrating it. Not some integral part of the game itself. They are a necessary expedient, nothing more.

I know this is bait but I’ll bite! Because we would like for results to reflect an outcome based on the performance of the teams within the agreed rules of the game. You know, sports. This is as opposed to the result reflecting the officials’ ability to call it correctly.

What I find most interesting is these are not even judgement calls, they are rules of the game, simple and clear-cut violations missed by officials.  It is one thing to be mad at VAR for making things too muddled, but all I see is dumb ass officials that apparently get a TON of non-judgement laws of the game calls…
