I do agree with you that substance abuse is awful and really should not be celebrated. But, having been to rehab (ahem) myself, I can say that the alcoholics were really in bad shape, more than the coke heads. They were shaking and garbled in the beginning, physically wrecked from all of the drinking.

There are so many waves and interpretations I don’t know if it still means what it should mean. I did study it - it’s my minor (women studies) and truthfully after studying the radical feminists, I distanced myself from feminism for a long time. I also do not identify with the most recent incarnation.

Maybe she (and some others) are still linking the misandry with the radical feminists like Mary Daly and Valerie Solanas. I think the meaning of feminism is a lot different for a lot of older women. Just from what I've seen and heard.
