I’m a mom of a six month old boy, but I’m not a #boymom. Not only do I not have time to read mommy blogs or get into mom culture, but it seems very limiting for mothers to build their outward identity around motherhood. I mean, yeah, I spend like 80% of my time when not working or sleeping with my baby, but at least I

Hey I can respect that you came back and admitted that after reading the garbage. I appreciate that.

Sorry, I should have read the twitter comments, brutal. Should have done a little research before commenting, my bad.

You would think that was the shocking part, but in the Twitter world it was pretty apparent that people were laughing at her for being "such a whore" that had only managed to make 12k. The tone of it all was very obvious. People were gleeful that the "dumb slut" would be forever associated with porn and have very

Are you being sarcastic?

She explained it on Lance Armstrong’s podcast a while back, basically, she shot all her scenes before gaining any notoriety. She got paid like a nobody because she was a nobody. Had she stuck around she could have been paid far better, but at the time she was just another aspiring star. By the time she really blew up

Now youre just being dumb.

Who the fuck is ungreying all of the people trying to mansplain all of this to justify any of it? I also want to observe that while there are obvious gender politics at play here I can’t help but feel this just speaks to how our society has a huge problem with basic empathy skills: It’s your body, what you do with it

You don’t know what the word progressiveness means? Google it, I guess? That’s just untrue. It was men and women on Twitter making fun of her for earning the amount she did.

Amen to that.

Nope, there were lots of women in the conversation very happy to see she had "whored" herself and gotten very little in return.

*people. You’re greatly overestimating women’s progressiveness when it comes to sex work. They judge other women just as harshly, if not more so.

If she was really in the industry for 3-4 months, I can totally see her earnings being ~$12K.

That’s the key piece of information for me, I thought she’d been a staple for years, given her popularity or at least name recognition.

“despite the fact that Khalifa performed in but a handful of films, despite the fact that she says she was in the industry for “three or four” short months”

So she made $12,000 in 3 or 4 months?

Read the Twitter replies when it was trending. It was absolutely about shaming her. Everyone just assumed she was wealthy because of her immense popularity. People were absolutely gleeful that she made so little from porn. It was disgusting.

I saw it go down on Twitter and it was absolutely about shame.

I had that unfortunate typical first thought about the first line in article. Thank you Tracy for opening my eyes to the inherent misogyny in so much of todays society. Good for Mia to have gotten out and to be able to tell her story.

For me at least, it’s just another highlight of how women are constantly paid shit, regardless of the work they do. The fact that she was so prominent in her industry and made so little... it just really shows that this industry, and many others- view women as meat, or “content”. How many men made millions off of her?
