As a former Ottawan who has lived in Toronto for the past 20 years, I am frequently amused by the amount of vitriol Toronto resdients directs at Ottawa. These people are constantly hyping Toronto’s status as world class and they’re busy obsessing over a smallish government city.
It’s used at the World Championships, too. It makes even less sense when almost none of the wrestlers in the bracket have been seeded.
Wrestling uses it to determine the bronze medallist (or medallists in the case of the Olympics and World Championships). Every wrestler eventually ends up in the bracket, with the exception of the two finalists for the gold medal match.
Prep programs have really taken off in Canada, especially in the Toronto area which is a massive hotbed of talent. There are some programs that seem to be on the up and up, especially when initiated and run by publicly-funded schools but there are also a lot of questionable ones “affiliated” with local schools.
