Bah! Happy Endings was just a joke vehicle—-a verrry good one, but I don't think it really resonated much beyond the punch lines. Bob's Burgers has a lot more going on imho.

Hahah, soo true. "Samwise" Tarly is pretty obvious, but I don't think I've ever made the Pyp/Pippen connection before.
All I could think about when Hodor was yelling down that well was, "You fool of a Took!"
Haha, never mind then! Someone else had compared the season to Lost earlier in the thread and I went with it because I can't think of anything else I've seen that's structured similarly.
Ugh, haha let's not open that can of worms! The game publishers are already doing it, releasing broken games and then patching after the fact. Plus day 1 DLC packs.
I'm through seven episodes and I've gotta say I'm pretty impressed. The ensemble definitely isn't as strong as it was during the original run, but that's understandable given the constraints that they had to shoot under.
Haha, so true!
Some dark part of me would want to join the Reapers in Dead Like Me…. they have a kind of sad but also kind of beautiful existence.
Woah, who's calling Arya "stick-em with the pointy end" Stark one-sidedly good? ; )
Whaaa? I'm amazed that this was given a pair of Bs! This was probably one of my top three episodes of the season… Dragonstone was awesome, Tyrion was the best he's been all season, we didn't have to watch Theon Greyjoy get tortured, Arya almost tried to murder the Hound through blunt trauma…
Wow, by pure coincidence I just watched this and the Bob's Burgers boy band episode back to back. I don't even know which one I enjoyed more, both were excellent. Bit of a role reversal for Louise and Mabel.
Goddd this episode was quality televison.
Torstein's arc kinda reminded me of the way Kor finally met his end in the last season of Deep Space Nine. Not surprising I guess, considering all the parallels you can draw between Vikings and Klingons. I swear both characters gave very similar speeches about outliving their friends.
They could've had such a damned good time together.
I agree. I like Happy Endings a lot, but it's basically just a group of people being as witty as possible. New Girl has a much stronger emotional core, and like you said, better characters. The characters in Happy Endings are just a vehicle for the jokes.
Troy and Abed.
Probably a subspace anomaly.
Haha, I have to admit… this is one show where it actually feels like the fandom can will something into existence if they're vocal enough. I like your second suggestion… I have no familiarity with the comics, but this was something I've been hoping would appear once the show got further into its run. Not necessarily…
I actually thought this was a fairly satisfying episode. They should have concluded the Guvnuh plotline, but aside from that I'm pretty OK with the way things turned out, and I'm especially glad for the broader range of perspectives we'll get next year now that the two groups are joined.
This is pretty damn insightful, if you ask me. It does seem fairly obvious when you spell it out like that, but being pretty much unfamiliar with the way television production works, I never would have thought of that on my own. This is why I love this site.
