@gebinsk: I think Engadget has done a fine job reporting on the new iPhone. They posted an informed review, had some test notes, and also discussed the issues. Every other post was not a photo of a broken iPhone with a title "THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU"

@Matt0505: I won't get into the semantics of arguing who the most powerful CEO in America is, but I agree completely with your second paragraph.

I know I may seem like a conspiracy theorist, but would it come as any surprise to people if Gizmodo is deliberately compounding these issues to make it seem like a much bigger problem than it actually is?

@dtptampa: True. But even then you only have to shell out $200 to apple - - a far cry from the $700 Giz implies.

@dtptampa: Yeah, it's actually a lot easier. I've done it on my 3G and a friend's 3GS, and it was really simple. And judging by the iFixit teardown, the iPhone 4 will be even easier to fix.

@theanyday: You could. They undergo testing that new products don't. They're much less likely to fail.

@BGR: You are aware that refurbished phones use brand new external pieces, brand new batteries, and vigorously tested parts from returned phones (sometimes new parts inside too).

LOL, Giz, leaving out pertinent info, as usual.

I wish I had the integrity to stop going to Giz and upping their view count, but at this point it's like a train wreck, and I can't look away.

@Michael Caffey: It's both. It just needs a small amount of work on behalf of the developer.

Oh my GOD. Someone alert the press!! AT&T overwhelmed by the customer demand for the iPhone 4 decided to continue to allow their customers to place pre orders by being a bit resourceful and not relying on their apparently buggy systems.

@seven5suited: Sure it sounds simple, but do you really think you have it better figured out than the dozens of people who organized this well rehearsed event?

As opposed to other toasters made from petroleum products which are dead dinosaurs.

While it certainly wouldn't make an appearance at my wedding, everyone likes different things, Adam. They're not harming anyone by having an iPad at their wedding, and apparently he really likes it. Who are you to say they're wrong?

@tonyjl: 100% of all terrorist attacks are undertaken by terrorists.

60% of plane crashes are caused by human error.

It's really getting pathetic the lows that Gizmodo will sinking to in an attempt to slander Apple.

@8thManOnTheMoon: You're right. Steve Jobs got to where he is, and remains where he is by doing no work. He just sits around all day waiting for emails from users so he can respond to them and make himself look busy.

Once again, it's not about hardware. It's about the software. People laughed at the original iPhone, "this phone does a fraction of what my Palm Treo 650 can do!!!"

It's funny how Gizmodo went from unabashedly pro-Apple to every other story being anti-Apple when Apple's press department started treating Giz like the ugly stepchild.
