Where and when do these happen? It’s like cheapass GRC. I want in!

I’m not Jewish, so this was the first version of the song I ever heard.
Prius.
2015 Subaru WRX. Japan. 90% parts content Japan. Japan Japan Japan.
In 1991, the Saturn SL2 and SC were much better than the competition. But they kept building basically the same car until 2002, by which time everyone had far surpassed Saturn. They replaced it with the Ion, which was a rebadged Chevy Cobalt.
I wrote some thoughts on this subject as well.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my WRX. It’s just not as visually appealing to me as my BRZ. And that’s OK - it’s great to drive, and a better fit for my current lifestyle than a dedicated sports car.
Fast and Furious of the Caribbean!
I was wondering if it was Stafford or Thompson. I go to events at both. And Thompson’s hosting Red Bull GRC in June.
Neutral: Full disclosure: I’m a Subaru Ambassador. But they tell us to be honest, so I’m going to be. Subarus have never been “lookers.” The Legacy hasn’t taken any chances, and never got too ugly. The Impreza/WRX did, and has often been criticized as a result.
When I got mine in 2014, the modern EcoStang wasn’t available. Neither was the WRX - 2014 models were sold out, and the new version for 2015 wasn’t out yet. If the WRX had been available, I probably would’ve gone straight to that instead of spending three years in a BRZ first.
The BRZ and Mustang EcoBoost are already the same MSRP. And according to Tom McParland, you can get the EcoStang for thousands less. Choosing between the two today, I’d go with the Mustang.
It’s the FA, not the EJ, but it still sounds like my ex-wife’s ‘96 Impreza L. :)
That’s true for the BRZ, but at least from 2015 on there’s been a base WRX below Premium. It lacks heated seats, fog lights, a sunroof, and a few other things.
I’m not sure I agree. I just traded my BRZ for a WRX because I married a wife with two pre-existing conditions (kids) who couldn’t fit in the BRZ. It was a natural progression. The souped up 86/BRZ would remain as impractical as ever - even more so, probably, due to stiffer suspension. I don’t think a RWD sports coupe…
I’m with you 100%. The only reason I swapped my BRZ for a WRX is because I actually do need to transport the wife and her kids at times. They wouldn’t fit in the BRZ’s back seat without amputations. But it was my daily driver, and often my only car. I couldn’t make a Miata work, but the BRZ was just big enough for me…
Generally I’d agree, but in this case I know that the previous owner was the 50-something year old brother of the dealership manager. It’s probably a safe bet that my WRX has never been vaped in. :D
I’m not a storm chaser - we don’t get many tornadoes in Massachusetts - but I am a Skywarn spotter and ham radio net control station. The National Weather Service preaches safety above all else, both for Skywarn and for storm chasers. Forget what you saw in Twister. Your observations do no good if flying debris rips…
To be fair, there is now a performance package available with stiffer, lower suspension, better brakes, and bigger wheels to go over them. I agree that the BRZ doesn’t NEED more power (I come from years of Miata ownership), but so many people WANT more power that they’d sell a ton of cars if they give the people what…
Neutral: I resemble this. After three years of BRZ ownership, I “grew up” and got a WRX. (As the Fourth Doctor said, “What’s the point of being grown up if you can’t act childish sometimes?”) I ended up getting a 2015 WRX Premium for thousands less than a 2017 WRX base model because I couldn’t justify spending more…
