Neutral: Dude. Did you watch The Sontaran Strategem episode of Doctor Who? That’s probably what’s going to happen. Aliens will hack into all our cars and take control. Devices that eliminate emissions will instead save them and release them all at once in a power grab move. Why do you think the current administration…
We love you, Torch. Don’t ever change.
Maybe, maybe not. People who were kids or young adults at the time the originals came out can now afford a genuine Type R. They may have been dreaming about them for years. On the other hand, they may have grown up a bit, their tastes more refined toward BMWs and the like. They may have outgrown the boy racer image of…
No matter how great a driver you think you are, you’re not. You don’t know shit. Grandpa in his E28 BMW looking like he’s out for a Sunday drive will kick your ass on the autocross course. Go to an autocross. Go to a track day. Learn some goddam car control, for crying out loud. Driving fast in real life doesn’t work…
But if you piss off an automaker, they can exclude you from stuff in the future. Notice how PG hasn’t exactly been invited back to any Camaro events since crashing one. If I remember right, Chris Harris was blackballed from Lamborghini for a while after saying less than complimentary things about them. Even Right Foot…
A CVT is fine for a Forester XT, but a WRX deserves better.
I agree. A non-enthusiast can tell a GTI from an ordinary Golf if they look hard enough. They can’t tell a Golf R from a base model. Some people like that, though. It was certainly part of the reason my friend got one. And that interior. It feels like an Audi, not a VW.
I’m stoked that they made the Type R a hatch! Just last year Honda showed us the Civic hatch “prototype” at NYIAS. Now they’re going to show us the actual Type R hatch. I can’t wait to see it in person!
Thank you!
I’ve noticed a repeating cycle in the auto industry when it comes to safety, emissions, or fuel economy.
This reminds me of the decals everyone had at the “Empire State Performace Rally” a few years back. I still laugh about that. especially when I see them on cars now.
That’s insane. I, and anyone who considers themselves a journalist, would and should decline such an offer. Sure, a free flight is nice, but nothing in life is free.
I completely agree. I now own a 2015 WRX and have driven a friend’s Golf R. The VW totally wins in refinement, especially when it comes to the interior. in the Golf R, I felt like I was in an Audi. In the STi, you still feel like you’re in a WRX, because you are. DSG > CVT, but not as fun IMO. If I absolutely couldn’t…
The same thing I ask about every car.
I was just having a conversation last night about the 1980s Honda Magna, which is basically a V4-powered VFR cleverly disguised as a cruiser. They were a serious pain to service. Especially the carburetors, which were in the middle of the V. Even worse, unlike an inline-4, you can’t remove all of the carbs together in…
Yes, with the back seat folded down there’s a decent amount of cargo space, unlike the Miata. Although the RF, despite the solid roof, doesn’t have any less cargo space than the soft top model. The targa top and back window fold down into the space formerly occupied by the soft top hardware.
Does that mean I’m doomed to get a Camaro in a few years? :)
