Did anyone else notice the conversational homage to The Big Lebowski? That scene where we first meet Tim Offerman's Karl Weathers was an homage to the first scene we see Donny, Walter and The Dude.

Ivy is Selena/Kat's friend hiding out behind the trash bag, NOT the "impassioned, older lover" — that would be Montoya. But yes, that whole storyline is pointless and is there because the writers needed a reason to separate Barbara from Jim. A better reason would be Barbara and Montoya dying in some inane manner.
