IMO they are the most well engineered car you can buy (I had a 440i and currently drive a Porsche) but engineering prowess does not translate into longevity. As much as I respect the mechanical perfection they are not cars to own out of warranty. I’m hopeful that the Supra colllab with Toyota will rub off on them,

Please god tell me this is sarcasm because otherwise this level of worship is creepy af.

Disagree on BMW (if you get a real one and not something FWD Mini based). The 330i is a blast to drive and very quick considering it’s the lowest engine offering. You’re paying the lowest price for a car engineered to be profitable at $40k+ vs paying $50k for some loaded common car that was engineered to be profitable

I would’ve thought there were enough Autopilot related crashes that have gone viral by now to dispel anyone of the notion that you can completely check out while the system is on.

When pushing towards $60k I don’t know why people aren’t shopping gently used Porsches. You can get a 2 y/o low mileage Cayenne for this and have the pleasure of driving a Porsche everyday.

Growing up and spending most of my life in the deep south there was massive pressure on so many of my gay friends and acquaintances to prove to their family and co-workers etc that they were just as ‘normal’ as straights. This manifested itself in many ways, from following the same ‘normal’ life script of moving out

Feel the same, love the rear end styling but that front looks outdated and harkens too much to the ugliest Z ever made.

Having had two of the previous gen G80 back to back can confirm they were not a Lexus level of reliability (anecdotal I know). The first one had me at the dealer every few months with problems, most of which later became recalls. The second one was better but the throttle body started going out at around 20k miles,

The thing is BMW is not a stranger to discounts either. I had two Genesis G80's, both first gen, the second had the 5.0 V8. I got such a discount on the second one that it was cheaper than the lower optioned V6 it replaced. But then I jumped to a new BMW that was discounted $17k below sticker.

I drove a GV80 with the 2.5 4cyl and it was much less intrusive than the German 4cyl turbos. Lots of low end power, pretty much didn’t hear the engine at all (besides a general hum when accelerating) but if you really concentrated the telltale NVH of a 4 banger could still be sussed out. Still was by far the quietest,

My ‘15 Genesis 5.0 had paint flaking off the wheels at the end of the 3 yr lease so it’s ongoing.

Feels like the old agreement the Japanese had to not go over a certain hp rating. The Germans don’t want a spec war but routinely outperform the modest numbers.

The car is extremely outdated under the fresh skin, and this 250hp turbo 4 underperforms in the Mazda6, unlike the germans that typically outperform their specs.

Not to mention the 228hp 228i listed above is faster than the Mazda6 with this engine. There’s only a couple hundred lb difference between a 3 and 6 so I doubt it will gain over half a second to make it even with the 228i.

Yes that’s what I want a small pickup to look like....

I love the car but yeah names are pointless anymore. The closest logic is to say the odd numbers are generally more luxury oriented and the even numbers more sport oriented, and the second part (30/40/50) is roughly crank HP of the engine instead of displacement.

Yes just terrible that they are offering a wide array of performance options to suit as many people as possible.

My 4 Series has 5 doors :)

Buy you a ‘20 440i GC, they still have the classic styling until next year. The auto is so good I’ve never missed not having a stick.

Yeah the real story here is that people with cars capable of much higher performance than the average drive faster. Imagine that.
