They seemed like a good practical car in manual. Unfortunately like most European cars the Automatics weren’t to be trusted. I think they sold manuals here in Australia as well as the diesel. But due to our mining boom there is hardly any interest in older cars from this era. I remember them being on the camel trophy

Land Rover SUV that seemed to all disappear five years after being released there was always a couple in the back of any mechanic in Australia about 10 years ago waiting for parts from the UK ( I think the auto transmissions were to blame). The rear hatch and side walls are convertible. the fact that the Honda broke

Tercel 4wd with snowmobile proves the point well. I’ve had a Lambretta motorscooter in mine fully assembled!

To a point. Yes and we need some form of self defence but interestingly the amount of government ministers who have resigned since and now work defence related industries of the USA and Europe. Meanwile a third of auto workers never found another full time job and a profitable factory  (Toyota) who exported around the

neither of them helped the situation but the Australian Government didn’t exactly help the situation.. All good though. Now we just subsidise Defence / Arms manufacturing instead of car building.

Didn’t we send Hockey to the USA to see what GM did with the Australian subsidies payed to Holden or something? Now he’s Trumps best mate.

My parents rented a hotel room in East Melbourne last year with bedbugs as a bonus!

I had the plot for momento tattood on my body so which plot spoiled the a second viewing

The amount of learners in the overtaking lane of the Geelong bypass makes me consider whether courtesy is part of the testing arrangement. I agree that its a lot harder now to get a licence as it should be with traffic so much heavier than when I got my licence 20 years ago.

For Adelaides bus way (o-bahn) we have this recovery vehical double mercedes beast!

Yes, you are correct. The last commodore however was designed for both LHD and RHD to be exported to the LHD markets (and was sold in the UK, China and Middle East and NZ amongst others) but US unions got mad and the GFC happened and it never realised its capital expenditure.
The Camry I believe had slightly more

Tax benefits could be an advantage in getting a hilux over a commodore I’ve heard.

Like most car manufacturing in the world it was subsidized by the government. However our subsidies were found to be going direct to Ford and GM USA and the unions there didn’t like us exporting to their markets so the Chevy SS was not pushed very well in the US.
Toyota were quite profitable here and exported a lot of

Thats correct. I applaud the companies for tuning to our conditions but I have no idea what it means anymore. Saying that though I think our suspension tune we prefer is firmer than the US but still a bit supple for our crap roads.

In Melbourne here at least around my friends and family SUVs are lightweight AWD compacts such as Hyundais, RAV4, Forester etc. Landcruisers, Discoverys etc tend to be named correctly as 4wds. As is the Jimny. People tend to call the Subaru Outback a wagon still.

Holden Jackaroo V8 been done and filmed on a 1980's security camera!

Seeing as this car was sold as a Holden Jackaroo here in Australia sure enough someone has shoved a v8 in it.

I didn’t say Australia’s health care was socialist only nationalised. The report I linked to through the article was written by 11 Americans. But then everything else is socialist compared to the USA I guess?
I’m sorry to hear what is happening in your country but that just sounds like corruption to me and not entirely

Well Australias nationalised health care is a lot more efficient than the USAs privatised for instance.
