Cool, I think a $50,000 + car is a toy as well. but treat them with respect like any other road user.

Agree. Scooted along fine especially with liberal use of the gearstick. One of my Tercel 4wds had a JDM 3a with the ‘swirl control valve’ i’m sure it had 75hp!. A guy on Tercel4wd.com has put a 4age 20v and retained the 4wd. Now, that would be fun.
I had a Santos green Mk1 like yours and spent more on it in 2 years than I have in 20 years since of owning secondhand Toyota Tercel and Corolla 4wds. But it was so much fun to drive.
Berlin drivers sound almost as bad as Adelaide’s.
My two Golfs were exciting for both me and my bank account. 8years of Toyotas and now can afford to have a VW as a weekender (Not a Golf though). Its a great car with a fine legacy but they are not the most dependable of things when you buy secondhand.
Thanks. I live 1km from the centre of Melbourne (debating congestion charges currently for the CBD). And the family down the road have both survivor Holden Torana and Sunbird that they use for everyday duties.
Lotus all the things
Thanks for that. Congestion Tax is only really useful if the money is put into other ways of moving around. I’m surprised it wasn’t discussed in the article.
I really like what you did with your VW and it looks great in the blue. I think the VW and the Outback are both great cars - don’t get me wrong. I’m a big fan of the Outback but for me I prefer the Golfs size and on road behaviour. But out of the box the Subaru would go a little further off the road.
Where does the money raised go though? I thought that all the revenue raised by the congestion tax in London went directly into public transport or does it just go into general revenue?
Saw the first pic and started humming this.
Their is still a few of these around in Australia. The five door looks more practical imho. Probably ahead of its time in its lack of 4wd pretence.
Did a 1000 mile trip in a Mazda GLC to see these guys back in their Heyday - Did not regret.
Look at your ground clearance on an alltrac and the low profile tyres. Now look at the clearance on an outback and the mud snow tyres. The alltrac does not have the capability the outback does.
Me as well but replace Montero with Tercel 4wd Wagons
New Corolla has IRS compared to torsion beam in the Mazda 3 as Mazda has now gone the cheaper option in the FWD models. Until the embargo is lifted we won’t know what drives better.
