This is a very good distinction. Unfortunately a lot of men don’t seem to be able to figure out the difference.

Also, saying “you look very chic today” follows the main rule of appropriate compliments; you are being complimented in a non-sexual way on something you have control over, which essentially compliments your choices and their results. It’s the difference between “nice ass” and “your hair is awesome!”.
I grew up in Ohio and there are Confederate flags hiding in garages and basements in every county. Much like Michigan. it has nothing to do with a war, it has everything to do with a racist symbol.
Not illegal, just racist and unethical. He’s supposed to represent all of his constituents, not just the racist white ones who can’t fucking read and don’t understand that Michigan was never part of the Confederacy.
Thank you. Men and women compliment me all the time at work (I do my best to dress well), and none of those comments even go near the Sex Pest Harassment category.
The thing I remember from Matthews’ show was that he really loved the sound of his own voice: he constantly interrupted his guests.
This sounds more like some sort of quick ‘confessing of sins’ than anything else. And now that he has confessed, he is absolved of those sins and is free to go about his business and is exempt from ever having to discuss it with anyone any further.
Zorn is a racist. His immigrant ancestor, George Zorn fought for the Union in Company L, 3rd regiment of the Ohio Calvary. The Lost Cause isn’t Zorn’s family history and even if it was it would still be outrageous behavior. Zorn wore that mask because he is racist.
Next maybe he can admit that in addition to being an asshole, he was really, really bad at his job.
Exactly.
I don’t think saying you shouldn’t compliment someone on their appearance at work really counts as acknowledging he did wrong.
Goddamnit, we were a Union state! Seeing all these yokels displaying their racist traitor flag in a state that fought against the Confederacy drives me up the fucking wall.
I am a black woman born and raised in a small town in Michigan. I moved to New York as soon as possible.
“It wasn’t intentional”
I look at it this way, he and/or wife are racists for the simple fact, that mask was made. My wife is making and has made several masks and each one of those masks are coming from her pre-existing “stash” of fabrics and I got to choose the fabric for my mask.
He’s using the Trump technique. “I didn’t do that!” “But if I DID do that, it’s okay because, history.”
1. I believe you mean that Michigan assisted the Union army, unless I’m missing a turn of phrase there.
I grew up in MI, and it was there I learned at a very young age that child idiots don’t get wiser, they just get bigger. The state has long suffered from what has been termed “brain drain.” What’s left are people like this, and that’s the result.
I hope the maid has been secretly wiping her ass with that flag since long before his wife thought up this clever little sewing project.
It’s not like confederate coronavirus masks are just lying around or available on Amazon. For that mask to exist, someone had to make an EFFORT.
