Apparently the author of this article knows nothing about Jewish culture or has even has seen a Mel Brooks movie. To laugh at the horror’s of life is a primary theme of Jewish vaudeville culture. The Producers, To Be or Not to Be and even Tarantino’s Ingorious Basterds, used humor to disarm the evil of our enemies.

I’m literally going to watch this movie just to spite you because it was made by a half jewish director and seems to be more deep than you’re making it out to be.

Who exactly are these reviews for?  You don’t seem to understand what a film is and seem far more concerned with being snarky or ironic than actually talking about the merits (or lack of) in any of the movies you talk about.  The “all ironic, actually liking things is dumb” NYC media dork stance is very last decade.

I’m just gonna take a guess...

People forget how much Weimar sucked.  Hitler sucked worse after he got going, but I think that the average German in Weimar got like 900 calories a day.  Half got less than that.  And it went on for years.  And for no real reason, just debts and banker bullshit.  Try putting Americans in a situation where they have

I normally don’t care what people think about movies as we all have different opinions, but I can’t stop thinking about this review and how it is so wrong.  It’s not wrong if you don’t like the movie, but to portray it as sympathetic to Nazis in any way is irresponsible.

Gotta say, this movie reached something in me that I don’t access very often. I was really pleasantly surprised. I had doubts about something that depicts Hitler as a cartoonish imaginary friend. And then about halfway through the film, there’s one scene where you’re pretty forcefully reminded,”No, this man is

It’s a fine film that you probably haven’t seen but had to write about.

Who allowed you to publish this? Your “trailer first impressions” on a movie that’s been out this long is both shallow, inaccurate, and greatly discredits you as a “journalist”.

Joan, you wrote four articles today.

So you missed the entire point if the movie, I see.

I think you missed the whole point of the movie. Probably one of the greatest films of all time to help people empathize with others that are different from them. Watched it right next to my best friend, who is Jewish. We loved it!

Wow, it’s actually the total opposite of what you describe. But you’ll never know because you’re letting your stupidity and closed mindedness get the best of you.

Oh boy. The movie isn’t a satire of the holocaust, nor does it make like of the events. It’s a poignant reflection of a boy who wants so much to belong to something because all the other kids are doing it(Hitler Youth), but eventually realizes that what he had pined for is something abhorrent and not for him. It

Well, you’re an ignorant fucking moron.

This wanna be film critic/journalist obviously has not seen the film. Or she has something missing in her brain...the part where empathy is supposed to be located. It is an anti - hate film, so I will stop making it about this person. Please go see JoJo. In this bleak world, this film made my heart bleed. The bond

What the hell is wrong with it winning an award for costumes? Nazis existed. They wore uniforms. A movie set in 1940s Germany needs its characters to look like Germans in the 1940s, which includes a lot of men in 1940s German uniforms.

This so widely misses the mark and the point of the movie, that I can’t understand if its satire for a satire or if you are just that bad at your job.

The movie was about what it is like being in a cult. You only sympathize with people who were brainwashed into believing in some crazy shit that destroyed their lives and country. What you are saying is a blatant misrepresentation of the film and is completely unsympathetic to Germain people. The movie is clearly anti-

Did you watch it? I doubt you did. Just like I doubt Joan Summers actually watched it, and if she did I don’t understand how she makes a living writing in English.
