Probably in the minority here, but I think it’s fair for an athlete not to want to take part in someone else’s political speech - not wearing the jersey isn’t that different than not wanting to stand for the anthem. This isn’t a private team, it’s the USWNT, for all intents and purposes an arm of the state.

The medallions are sold at auction, so the market sets the price, not the city. Some people speculated that the price of medallions would always rise, and paid more than they were worth considering the current income they could make from them, hoping a rise in the price of fares and the value of the medallion would

Down with Jacquard Looms! Will no one think of the weavers who invested in expensive looms, that now can’t make a living with machine looms undercutting then, and are taking their own lives!

This is terrible for this man and other people like him, but the problem isn’t with Uber, it’s that a medallion is $700k. This artificial economy has always been problematic. There are also issues with ride sharing, but the answer lies somewhere in the middle, not protecting this outdated system.

TL;DR

And Miatas.

I’m a Celtics fan, in the sense that I live in New England, but I look forward to these articles with baited breath for these takes more than any game. Each articles’ dissertation on the tea leaves in the aftermath is extremely amusing.

Can’t get mad that we don’t get this car. We complained that we don’t get some thing and Ford said, you’re right. Then they started to sell us these gems.....and we didn’t buy it. Now we don’t get it. Before we yell at Ford I want you, all of you to take a look in the mirror and blame the person looking back at you

If only there were some way to address these types of issues in pre-production runs before putting a troublesome vehicle into the hands of the press and CR ...

Electric seats are nice if they include a memory setting for different drivers. My wife is barely 5 ft tall and I am 6 ft even and after I drive it, all I have to do is push the 1 button and the seat and mirrors move to exactly how she likes them. A true marriage saver!

Now be honest: You woudn’t have bought this new anyway.

The lack of self-awareness amongst the deadspin crew is pretty laughable. They are all so holier-than-thou without realizing just how ridiculous they truly are.

Dude, if she really spent time in jail for lying about a previous assault, the writers at Deadspin fucked up. They missed an incredibly important detail, and they didn’t do their fucking jobs, simple as that. And it’s exacerbated by the fact that their fuckup was happening while they were railing on the Lions and Pats

Why wasn’t Deadspin (and specifically, you Diana) able to find Ms. Ennis’ incident from 2011? Don’t you do simple searches of the people you write about before publishing?

I’d imagine the dealer was insured got paid, and the car then belonged to the insurer? So maybe the insurer didn’t feel it was worth paying the impound fees for a 25 year old car that was abused and then abandoned for decades, just to cart it off to auction?

Reddit didn’t disappoint

The market is driven by the folks who wanted one back then in their youth and now have successful careers and are catching up with those old dreams. This isn’t any different that guys buying up 1960s muscle cars twenty years later. It’s a cycle that will continue as long as we have desirable cars and the human

This is the usual Deadspin M.O. “Hey, I never said that this happened/they did anything, but I’ll just hint at it enough so you know my opinion and I can get a bunch of crazy comments supporting my brilliant journalism.”
