That wasn’t the point. I’m sure they would have considered AI upscaling regardless, but no matter what you’re aiming for clearly you want to start with the best possible quality material. The AI upscale might have looked twice as good had they had the original video to upscale from.

That’s pretty disappointing, especially from blizzard. Their launches can be rocky, but for the most part, they're know for taking their time and delivering on their promises. This sounds like a rushed compromise. I hope it's not indicative of Blizzard's future handling of their games. 

The privilege is literally oooozing out of every word you just typed. Someone does not “fail” if they do not experience life exactly the same as you do. They are not a “failure” for not having a deep seeded knowledge on all global cultural backgrounds. That’s a far jump between video game cosmetics and your soapbox.

I will assume that at no point in your life have you heard someone say they were upset by something and gone “jeez, that’s a dumb thing to be upset about”. In which case, congratulations on being so very, very noble.

I can't believe people take video game cosmetics this seriously, but here we are.

I think it’s silly to expect games to always have a male and female option, and even sillier to expect a patch that adds the choice to a two year old game...but the way the people’s request/concern was handled here, was very poor.

Adding anything in game development is a lot of work.

Im a black male. I’ve never felt weird playing non-black characters, nor do I gravitate to heroes like Lucio and Doomfist. I dont relate to them just cuz their skin color is similar, and I think the notion is ridiculous.

It’s worth remembering that the Chinese government (aka Tencent) did ActiBlizz CEO Bobby Kotick a huge favor in helping repurchase the stocks from Vivendi in 2013. They still own about $2.5B worth of ActiBlizz last time I looked.
