These are all metaphors of various kind which form a common shorthand.
They serve the purpose that all metaphors do of communicating a complex concept simply. Some of them are humorous. But using them implies a common cultural knowledge.

It’s funny, I would consider the things on that list to be idiomatic expressions, sure, but not jargon. Jargon, as Dr. Wilson notes, is exclusive to a professional field, which forms the discourse community (a bit of jargon from my own profession) for that jargon. It is language used by practitioners and not the…
Another really sad thing about this story; the fact gizmodo is the only place I've heard of the Testimony. It's almost like AI is trying to bury the story.
I don’t even cook a simple recipe without pictures, no way I’m diying this without a clue what it looks like.
I wouldn’t say this is such a steal.... It is a 10 year old ipad that doesn’t support the latest iOS. It is stuck at iOS12.
It’s not even a gambling hall. It’s an advice piece on why Filipinos would want to gamble online along with traditional casino games. It’s informative only. The original redditor and this site neither went and read the actual site. That was a pic and not a link showing an example of an online casino. FFS
Seriously. People getting news from anywhere besides Facebook would be an improvement. Anything that gets the most uninformed people in society to use Facebook less is a win.
The interesting thing about Helion, to me, is that the big boys are all trying to get a sustained reaction going, while Helion is avoiding a bunch of those really tough engineering issues by basically pulsing a reaction 20-30 times a minute.
And instead of trying to capture the heat from the reaction to make steam,…
“know that your authenticator entries are stored in your google account” plus “unique password and MFA” where Google is the MFA are at odds, no? I think a lot of the hullabaloo around this is that Google are effectively removing one of the factors from traditional MFA with this move.
Which ignores the fact than when it is 90+ degrees outside opening the windows will only ever “cool” the car down to 90+ degrees. The only respite is that a torrent of hot air will make you sweat like mad and that might make you feel marginally cooler. Of course the torrent of noise comes along with the air fraying…
Thank you. Saw the Spy Kids thing and nearly said out loud, at work, “that is from Back to the Future Part II!”
I just use a hard wood stick that is about 3/4 inches in diameter and about 1 foot long. I’ve been using the same one for about 10 years. It has a nice groove worn in the end now
Cook for 7 minutes
I shop Aldi every week and often other customers will pay it forward and offer me or another shopper their empty shopping cart after unloading their groceries.

thanks for the six-year-old information.
Is it really a “hack” to use the actual interface for the actual purpose it was designed?
True because in every case, it seems, you have to sign up for their particular site, not sure what all you need to give them, at the very least and email and password. And by using your computer, or phone for that matter, to sign up they 100% have your location via your IP address, unless you use a VPN.
What I wouldn’t give to have a dragon’s breath stove like in the restaurants.
If you suspect it is not your kid in the other line (perhaps because they are standing next to you, or you don’t have one) the best thing to do is hang up ..... while a scammer would likely move on to the next number.
