I’ve been an “urban chicken farmer” for ... 11 years. Just some things to note from my experiences: build a secure coop & run using a fine gauge hardware cloth to wrap everything up (raccoons can tear through chicken wire like tissue paper). Chickens poop. A LOT. Get used to it... and keep this in consideration if you

Honestly, this is dangerous advice. It sounds good on the surface, but is terrible in practice.

That’s coming from an IT pro that has deployed LTSC and all of the other versions to global environments. It sucks for home users, normal employee endpoints, and most end up switching to a full OS down the road.

LTSC is

Agreed. Unfortunately those are often some of the most expensive fridges (probably because they tend to go in very custom kitchen designs) and then you still have to bring your own matching panels. Definitely an investment but look great.

I think we’ll be mocking Crocs and man buns too much to worry much about stainless steel. It will definitely be a way to signal the era in future television shows and movies about the early 20th century.

I know this is just the way this whole family of sites are going, but I find it a real bummer the increase of headlines/articles to the effect of “this is the only right way” or “you’re doing it wrong”. It seems unnecessarily divisive and more mean-spirited than the culture/style that got me to read the Takeout in the

I want a “dummy” version of this that’s just a keyboard and trackpad in this form factor, maybe a little wider even. For a HTPC setup in a living room this would be great. The few keyboards I’ve tried that have a trackpad on them for HTPC’s are garbage.

Yep, Brevard

Self-checkout is not only a way for me personally to avoid feeling shame, but it also often speeds up the checkout process”

I take major issue with the idea that coriander seeds and cilantro leaves “can be used interchangeably in recipes.” They absolutely cannot. The flavor profiles are very different.

They all went on strike. Takeout is part of a different union which hasn’t gone on strike.

At some point we’re going to need to rethink the whole gas tax anyway, since that is part of how road and bridge infrastructure is funded.

Actually read the story man. He’s arguing the city has bigger fish to fry. They need to focus on education to attract younger families. They have to worry about the expansion of infrastructure before adding a ton of people.

As usual The Root has gone the way of Fox News for clicks and likes. Here is the actual story: The press trying to frame this is David Chapelle killing affordable housing for poor people. It’s not that simple. They offered a plan to get his $65 million investment, then switched up the project presumably to get tax

*sigh* I can’t believe I clicked for this crap.

A decently worn N95 is still going to offer more protection that a perfectly worn cloth mask. Yeah, if you’re going into a COVID ward you’ll want to do a fit test and all that but if you’re going to the grocery store you’ll still get lots of extra protection even if it isn’t fit properly.

that would make too much sense, so no, denied.

Agree. Just changed from LastPass to 1Password. Love the integration between devices, was annoyed that I had to sign in with my password every time I start the day on a browser - but realized I can use FaceID on my phone app and it’ll cross-talk with the browser. LastPass pretty much stayed logged in all the time,

And start using a password manager! (and let it come up with the passwords for you)

I’ve used Snag-It for years, first discovering it on Windows while I was doing some tech writing for a newspaper back in the early oughts. I love all the annotation and markup tools. It’s probably overkill for some users, and I dislike the annual subscription model for updates, but I usually re-up every two or three

Techsmith’s Snagit is definitively the best option and though its $63, I find it well worth the cost. I like that it is cross-platform too so I only have one screenshot tool on all my machines. Snagit’s library of screenshots is amazing because it keeps context of date, application or webpage its on as well as text in
