I’m no EE, but I don’t think that’s how super capacitors work. They are an open circuit with two plates that are insulated from each other. They have fancy electrodes and electrolytes folded into different shapes to fit different housings, but the general construction and current flow is the same as a regular

Yeah, seriously. The fact that this kind of shit qualifies a person for a show on Discovery/Science is yet another indication of how fucking far our society has fallen. Sympathies to the dipshit’s friends and families and anyone who’s actually suffering because of this, but fuck an attention-seeking, science-denying

That’s absolutely brilliant. I’m a little extra nerded out since I spent 6 years in a shop as their primary wheel alignment technician (and that was 10 years ago when I quit already... time flies).

I don’t think its ultimate origin and the path by which it was communicated to humans have been definitively traced.  In a posting updated on February 13, the CDC notes that COVID-19 is of a type of coronavirus is typically associated with bats. Throw the Sons of Anarchy characters in there too.

Are the Vogons armed with poetry?

Because bludgeoning an animal is so much more humane then a bullet. Fucking moron.

This reminds me of Corporal Voytek, the Syrian brown bear that a corps of Polish soldiers enlisted after buying him in a railway station in Iran in the 40's during WWII. They used to leave him sitting in a passenger seat to guard the ammunition while they were deployed in Italy.

Alanis saved my life more than anyone will ever know, providing much needed backup for Jalopnik’s racing coverage when I really, really needed it. Trying to keep an eye on all the racing series all the time was exhausting as the only person here who was paying close attention to it, and being able to trade off weekend

Well, shit.

That’s funny, the last I checked, Ford couldn’t get out of Vietnam fast enough!

“Easy to get in and out of because you’re fat and have bad knees.”

Bosch did file the patent application on September 18th 2018 but they had already made a “priority application” on September 22nd 2017. So they were already making the early steps for the patent when the article was published but the final application wasn’t yet filed. I think that only the final version is public so
