@vinod1978: Is that a problem? I think all smartphones look like a commodity these days. The iphone hit that phase with the 3G, Android is there, blackberry has been there, and I'm sure if I lived somewhere besides the US I'd see one to many Nokia devices.

@vinod1978: They are as similar if not more so than any HTC handsets. I think that was the point.

@mtfmuffins: I don't think it's about going retro. To me this idea is all about how we interact with our digital music. I thought it would be cool to do with a couple albums of my library that I can't buy on vinyl or even want to own in vinyl. To me it would be about the tactical experience of interacting with my

@ieatbabies: It's totally a proof of concept to get people more involved with music, physically. I think the idea is great. Picking playlists, changing ipods, etc, all the current ways we interact with digital media in a social environment is not very exciting. This is just an idea about going back to a more tactical

This is from a competition put on by Volkswagen called "The Fun Theory." There are a lot of cool little ideas. This is one of my favorite, though I imagine that they saw a decrease in speeds just because of the camera, and it publicly posting your speed. I guess that's the goal: decrease speeding with the added

@applefandan: I assume like all other traffic cam tickets, they'll just obtain that info from your plates. You probably would never receive an actual lottery ticket, you'd just be sent a check with a card saying you won. The drawing is whenever. It could be monthly, quarterly, yearly, whatever they decide.

I've been seeing lots of similar camera sling ideas lately and all of them look like they could be recreated for under $20 with a trip to the local hardware store.

@2nd White Line: I agree. Compare specs online, get the idea of what you want, go to the store to make sure it's what you want, come home and buy the product online. Why you would ever mess with black friday camp outs is still beyond me.

@El Guano: I would guess they are extremely sturdy in terms of durability (depending on their plastic choice), but like most plastic chairs, it is designed to flex to fit your body more ergonomically.

@NotAVaderHater: I assume it would melt at it's given plastic melting point. So it depends on the plastic they are using. That's essentially how all 3d printers work, and very similar to how any type of plastic molds work, and pretty much how all plastic parts/products are made. Melt plastic, mold/print, let cool.

I'm glad to see his project coming along well. The designer was a teacher/TA of mine and someone I worked with on my last school project. He's a recent Industrial design graduate from DAAP, and this was part of his graduate thesis. It's been a long time in the making, tons of hours, some depressing failures, but it's

@obedient.deviant: Well also it's an electric vehicle. One of those weird times where I actually know this designer personally, and it's a pretty cool project.

@aec007: That and well it is an electric vehicle.

@OMEGAMAN: It failed (I agree it was a lack of direction and no one knew what to do with it), but man it was the best thing ever for me this past summer. I used it with a group of classmates as our hub for our quarter project. We had discussions, posted information, research links, documents, anything and everything

@Ryan: It totally depends on the printer and supported materials. Either way it's not cheap to just be printing these things, and it also takes forever. The finish is pretty good, not injection molded perfect, but close enough that it wouldn't bother you.

@Homer Berkowitz: The glass is broken off. That shine I assume is just the finish of the mortar against the smooth surface of the bulb.

@yantelope: Isn't the same to be said about all motion control platforms?

I feel like these markets are so competitive that it's not about declaring one "the best." Each consumer should be buying the product that fits their needs, not one that meets review criteria.

@bmart008: Well Hulu is blocked on the PS3. The 360 has limited audio support (or at least the old one did). The new (black) 360 has built in wifi. They both have netflix, they both have a video marketplace, they both stream content. Really the blu-ray and 3d support are the big things missing from the 360.

@schall129: I think it's more about the bottle. Instead of buying and throwing away 4 bottles, you have one bottle and a pod that gets tossed after the same period of time.
