I didn’t think about the Moltisanti part but I still kind of hate it.  Reminds me of https://www.amazon.com/Many-Aspects-Mobile-Home-Living/dp/B00TQ9F9YI/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+many+aspects&qid=1631220686&sr=8-1

Also, truly terrible title. But great casting.

I was a big fan of his standup. One of his routines turned on it being hilarious that he called his wife a bitch when she asked him not to (and there was a bunch of stuff about her being Jewish as well). That routine worked when they had the appearance of a happy stable marriage.  In retrospect I kind of want to

It’s like I’m tasting them right now. Reminiscent of that cinnamon smell they used to pipe into long-haul Greyhound buses.

Now *that* I would actually listen to! Whereas zero is my limit for Rob Lowe podcast smarm.

Sums it up.

Like that old SNL sketch with George Bushes Senior and Junior.

I really just wanted Rebecca to retain more of an edge. I appreciate the effort the show has put into having her bond with other women characters, but is the endgame for her character just to be nicer and nicer until she ascends to heaven? Also, the actor who plays her is only one year older than Jason Sudeikis. I’m

Spot on.  Plus, people often go into the same business their parents are/were in.  Hannah Einbinder is great, she deserved this job.  I can think of certain offspring of politicians who deserved their positions of prominence way, way less.

Agree. Acceptable on SNL in the Chad sketch (highly acceptable there) but in a feature film? Come on.

I watch for Roy Kent. Ted Lasso is a one-note character and Rebecca lost her edge fast.

I genuinely liked Superstar! (the Mary Catherine Gallagher movie) but it probably cemented the impression that that was all she could do.

It seems like there’s a better shot for that being true with character actors!

That’s a good point, never thought much about the evolution. I know Disney is a corporate behemoth that does whatever it does for business reasons, but I was touched by the behind-the-scenes stuff from Moana. It seemed like they put a lot of effort into consulting with and listening to Pacific Islanders, including

Tautological.  You seem committed to this viewpoint, so I’m out.

Verging off-topic here, but living as an Orthodox Jewish person has nothing to do with fairy tales. It’s a series of traditional practices that aren’t necessarily science- or logic- based (although there was probably, e.g., a common-sense rationale for avoiding pork a while back), but there’s no implied basis in magic

Yes.  I can attest, there are kids who try your soul ... for years.  Consistently not saying the wrong thing is not always so goddamn easy.

I have to admit I participate in the 9-11/mental health Pete Davidson cheering committee, like “look at him!  he’s doing it!  he’s OK!”  I do find him funny at times, but he’s not a versatile player.  Che on the other hand seems to low-key dislike and be bored by SNL and his coworkers.

Beck is fantastic but imho Kyle should go. He has one shtick that’s all about him, all the time. Some of it was funny but it’s played out.

People like Mohr have more success as performers than thousands upon thousands who aspire to be actors, comedians, whatever, but as soon as their career cools down it’s perceived as this tragic downward trajectory. They still did better than most. If the life coaching thing is real, maybe he’s actually got something
