Or they could try and come up with something else.  Call me crazy ; )

Early stardom is tough on a developing personality. Just imagine the fawning this child has encountered for the past five years (or however long it’s been since Stranger Things started, I will get depressed if I look it up).

For real.  There needs to be like a 100-year moratorium on Sherlock Holmes adaptations.  Throw in Little Women too.

I found the series unwatchable, even though I have a sentimental fondness for the movie.

hmm dunno as a 12 year old girl walking to school seeing porn on the side of the road was more “gross” than “awesome!”  But maybe it needed to be in the woods ...

Can’t stop singing “There Will Be Blood” to the tune of “And She Will Be Loved.”

Totally fair enough, GalvaTron Guy. We are all living some version of that now. I follow two (and only two) Twitter accounts, I’ve never met either of the tweeters in person, and I don’t find the tweets especially illuminating. But I keep checking back in because ... because.

Oh dear that is not good.

I stopped watching The Mindy Project after a while, but he was really really good in it.

The punchability is an asset now that he’s more of a character actor.  Like with James Spader.

This story would get a lot of attention either way, but he definitely was presented as extremely likeable on the show, so this is an even steeper fall from grace than it might have been for someone characterized as difficult.

Winslet had a telltale cough in Finding Neverland. I assume it’s Ronan’s turn this time. I remember thinking they really should have dubbed Winslet’s cough because there’s a difference between the sound of a seriously ill person hacking up a bit of lung and an actor performing

Not sure we’ve identified a violation here.  Just because he’s a serial killer doesn’t mean he can’t learn how his life isn’t so different from a blond girl in high school, and vice versa.

I think he gave himself this particular work, and people are willing to talk to him because he’s jolly and won’t ever try to gotcha anyone (I’m assuming this based on his persona—haven’t watched any of his interviews). Plus, you know, quarantine ... not as much going on in the entertainment world.

It’s arrogant; it’s “we have infinite money and infinite talent, so we don’t need a plan.”

I didn’t watch Hannibal but I assume they are trying to catch some of that make-the-villain-the-protagonist magic (although if we’re splitting hairs I suppose Hannibal started out as less of a pure villain than Ratched, narratively speaking).

Daphne DuMaurier is a seriously underappreciated writer, imho.  I love Rebecca but her short stories are just as good, and I have a soft spot for The Flight of the Falcon.

Agree! Also, I do not want to be swept away to some crypto-“exotic” realm with an entirely new set of characters, if that’s what the GoT comparison is promising. I liked the low-budg-style (not actually low budget, I’m sure) original-Star-Trek vibe a lot.

They could call it Clean Platters.

That’s exactly right. Explains why Lee Child has sold a bajillion books. I also think an important part of the fantasy is being able to disarm/defeat any assailant, however they’re armed, and however unarmed you are, through a combination of close reasoning, laser-sharp instincts, and brute strength. Wouldn’t we all
