A couple come to mind:

A tip on hydroplaning - if you can see tire tracks from cars some way ahead of you (depends on speed), then there is no standing water on the road and you are less likely to hydroplane. If you cannot see tire tracks...stay at least below 50. Yes, that includes if you're driving AWD. #howto

No question - the 1979 Datsun 280ZX #qotd

2007 Infiniti G35 Couple w/manual transmission #qotd

Seems pretty stupid that the different international automotive safety and emissions regulators don't trust each others tests. I'm pretty sure Japan has more stringent emissions requirements than the US and I doubt the GT-R had a crash safety problem. All these owners should have had to do was prove the stock

Utah - no question.

The key with safety ratings is that they only rank them against other cars in their "class." An acceptable rating on an economy car is different than an acceptable rating on a full size sedan like a Taurus or Camry. It would be nice if it was an absolute scale, but it's not.

The suburbs just north of Chicago are selling regular unleaded for around $1.95/gal.

Viper

Sounds like the BMW answer to the Mercedes CLS. If they make it too tall, though, it will be a tear-drop-shaped minivan.

Aston Martin AMV8 Vantage

@lilwillie: Unless you're shopping for a used, late-90s Buick LeSabre.

Nice! That reminds me of the accident I saw a few years back on I-290 west of Chicago. A Hummer H2 lost out in an accident to a Toyota Corolla. The Corolla doors were smashed in a bit, but half of the front end of the H2 was missing. Gotta love cars these days!

I can't think of a single American car that I want to own. So...none. There's a FAIL photo for you.

@Mad_Science: You are right. It was Mitsubishi and the Evo. They didn't give out SCCA memberships, but the did advertise autocross. I had a friend that I autocrossed with in Wisconsin that went through this.

That's brilliant! Sounds like the best reason ever for a PD to choose a car.

It's a shame the BMW Z8 isn't still in production. It almost belongs on the list anyway.

I'm surprised by the 2007 Dodge on the list. Most of the cars on that list don't have immobiliser keys - making them much easier to steal.

I think it's brilliant. The current 3-series is a bit bland, but then I've liked all the Bangle designs including the first 7-series that had it. The extra lines on shown on these sketches really improve the front end look and the flow of the lines down the side of the car.
