I want to know what kind of danger he’s exposing himself to for his job as an engineer at Google. Obviously, not getting to be openly sexist and racist at work has been difficult for him, but I wouldn’t say that’s “danger.”

Note to all: YesYesThisAgain is our resident “but ACTUALLY” MRA type. Do not engage.

And you think rape is a one-dimensional response?

For who’s sake was he raping?

Are you Hickey? Your defense is concerning.

You’re not a reader, obviously.

So the accusations/charges are straight forward and quite frankly amount to some fuck shit. Illumination into his motives would only serve to inform the public that he has insight into the fact that this is some fuck shit or not. It’s like reading about body parts being found in Damer’s fridge and wondering about his

I think you need to do some serious reading. Take my advice as a gift. Stop writing and start reading.

I know it’s hard to accept, but some people’s motives are literally just “they’re really into rape.” End of story.

I’m confused. Wouldn’t this kill you, eventually? Or at least make you severely ill? Fruit doesn’t have protein, right? I thought we needed protein to live.

Could we get over the trend of constantly judging what other people eat? I am so sick of people feeling compelled to interrogate me (a vegan) about what I eat, what I don’t eat, why I eat what I eat, etc. I do not care what anyone has to say about my diet (especially when what they have to say is “Tofu?! GROSS!”), and

Everyone pretends there is no more data. Every application collects (voluntarily) sex, race, etc... so the numbers cannot just be the hired people but also analyze who applies and gets rejected by race, age, sex. It’s easy to claim we ‘dont have enough applicants’ (Me: Latino, MBA, with 10 years of experience in

Yes! I work in the research department of a big government agency. There are so many women programmers here!! Why? Because they were probably discouraged to apply in places like Facebook where you not only need to have gone to a school that doesn’t start with University of for your MA degree. Because Facebook wants

I’m 48. When I was in college in the late 80s (majoring in a physical science for which I went on to earn a PhD), the story was “There are no women in high-level positions in your field because they haven’t gotten through the pipeline yet.” I assume my grandchildren will be getting the same song and dance someday.

That’s a great one. The interviewer has to have enough awareness of implicit and systemic bias, though, to know that an answer like, “prep school +sports, backpacked through Europe, college+fraternity, grad school+study abroad” isn’t necessarily superior to, “public schools+paper route, waited tables for a while,

Every time I see some tech company hand wring about how their racial diversity numbers are a pipeline problem, I get so fucking angry. They are fucking lying.

Yeah, for $15m they could train plenty of promising up-and-comers to do exactly what they wanted. But Silicon Valley still operates under the myth that it’s a “meritocracy,” and this would force them to confront that delusion.

Also I am pretty sure that not every job at Facebook requires you to be a computer wiz. Marketing, HR, Sales, Ad Ops etc. So I call bullshit on this “minorities don’t know computer tech” as an excuse. Hell I work in Ad Ops for a very big company now (I am black) and in school I didn’t even know a position like mine

Maybe they should focus on recruiting more college drop-outs. Like their founder.
