Sweetie I live in a newly renovated prewar apartment with a “real” eat in kitchen, walkin in closets, updated appliances, including dishwasher, hard wood floor, sunken communal areas and elevated bedrooms, and I hung up curtains. I also have pets even though my lease forbids it. No one really cares.

As a born and bred new yorker. Nobody asks permission to hang curtains and landlord wont keep the deposit or deduct because if you sue they will have to pay more. hang the dang curtain.
