@aja175: There's more than just that. If your riding cross country and there is heavy rain one night, it could due serious damage. Most of the modern touring bikes have stereos, CB equipment, not to mention water could find it's way in to your gas tank.

There was a time I would have loved this. Unfortunately my wife has banned me from riding ever since I lost my spleen when a tire blew out 5 years ago...
