No. We have to cry like fucking babies because despite everyone getting a cookie, some people only had two raisins in theirs and others had four.

Yeah, I’m sure those young newly-inspired white women will be sure to show up at every future protest once they realize they’re being judged by everyone else there.
This is absolutely relevant. I think it’s confusing even among relatively woke white women as to what we should be doing a lot of the time. Is this where I sit down and shut up, or is this where I add my voice?
Kara doesn’t know if she can trust you, though. Sorry. Post every day for 2 months and she will know you are pure of heart and you can be in her important activist club.
That’s when people who are seeking the catharsis of wanton violence towards authority will step up. I’m not going to ruin something that was peaceful and widespread by hurling half a cinder block at a police horse.
So protests only matter when you’re uncomfortable and/or under threat of violence? Someone downthread described this as a “woker-than-thou” contest, and she/he is exactly right.
Kara Brown isn’t an activist. She is a professional complainer.
Preach.
Serious question: does the Black Lives Matter movement have a set position on whether they want white people at their protests or not? I’ve read several high profile articles both ways. I’ll admit to staying away, in part because I’ve read several impassioned pieces saying that I shouldn’t go.
Agreed. An activists job at a large successful action is not to whine about why the people who showed up weren’t at the previous actions, but to do something — other than whining — to make sure as many of them as possible come back to the next one. This article is not helpful.
Yeah, that’ll make the first-time marchers feel great. Can we stop picking at people who gave enough of a shit to come out and march in January, and then tell them it isn’t good enough? I think all women need to be respectful of the new-to-protest women who are now galvanized. Coming together on commonalities and…
My $0.02, FWIW.
What’s with these purity tests that people on the left require of one another?
Admittedly, it’s a subset, but it’s an increasingly vocal and documented one that works at social justice consistency, and hopefully it will continue to grow as it has in the past five or so years
It is; jumping to conclusions appears to be your thing, considering you’ve managed to do it twice on one article. There is a subset of the pro-life moment that focuses on social justice issues like education, fighting poverty, access to health care, etc. etc.
Nothing indicates that she cares less about the born than pre born. That’s a nice quip, but there’s no proof it applies in this case.
I personally wouldn’t take that bet. This actually is my only regret over the “women’s march”. It’s billed as inclusive, but only to a point, excluding views they don’t deem legitimate.
When you stoop down to their level, you empower them.
It’d be one thing if a real American patriot was doing the punching, not some scum anarcho-vegan.
