I remember walking into a masjid once in Ankara thinking, “why in the hell are there so many cats in here?” Whenever it gets cold, houses, businesses and mosques open the doors for the strays to come inside. Buzzfeed wrote an article about it:

I’m definitely going to do that. I find Kellie Leitch & Chris Alexander to being really vile. FYI: I ran into Chris when I did some work in Afghanistan and it was incredible how ugly his views were. He was basically John Bolton with the good sense to hide his views in public.

I don’t care what any of you say. My country of origin (A’stan) is being rocked by suicide bombings and Taliban fighters are advancing toward the cities. The country I lived and worked in 10 years is now being run by a crazy person (Trump) and the country that I currently live in (Canada) has the same crazy policies

These three terrible and seemingly disparate events are all rooted from one cause: the collapse of the Syrian state. What a failure from the international community.

I agree, but Daesh and other like-minded extremist groups usually target mosques they see as preaching a “deviant” form of Islam. Shi’ite mosques (particularly in Iraq) or Sufi shrines tend to be their favorite targets. This was just a regular Sunni mosque

Continue being skeptical. This is as much an attack on Erdogan as it is on Russia. Turkey’s main concern is Iran at this point.

This will likely strengthen relations between Turkey and Russia. Currently, they need each other and Turkey is more at odds with Iran than anyone else.

I just saw the video (note: don’t watch the video). The attacker is Arab, likely Syrian, clean shaven and wearing a suit. He says, “we die in Aleppo, you die here.” He says some other stuff but I can’t hear it well.

I don’t condone any of this, but this slippery slope was greased long ago by the abomination that is the White House Correspondent’s Dinner.

If the anti-Trump resistance is being led by Evan McMullin, David Frum, Sarah Kendzior and Michael Sheen, I wish to formally surrender to Donald Trump ASAP. I can provide reliable information.

Vancouver is -2 (Celsius). It’s so... unnatural. The rest of the country is mocking us for being weak like bear rather than strong like beaver.

SFHandyman, you’re the real victim in all of this. I’m surprised they didn’t stone you. Is there any way I can donate to your foundation?

I love this pontificating about how the media was focused on the ‘wrong’ issues and completely blew up the issue of hacked emails.

I felt the same way watching Ridley Scott’s ‘Body of Lies’, which really was a great movie. Ridley had Mark Strong play the Jordanian intelligence chief and Oscar Isaac as an Iraqi informant. Both were marvellous in their roles, but all it made me wonder was why he didn’t take a chance with some Arab actors? Ghassan

It’s funny to think that her parents wanted to set her up with one of King Abdullah’s (Jordan) cousins. The lesson is always listen to your mother.

This is one of the best things to have happened for the Palestinian cause. We can no longer hide behind the false pretense that peace is just around the corner, that we will see a shiny golden Palestinian state alongside Israel and that Jerusalem will be shared peacefully, yada yada.

I’m absolutely certain at this point that Trump is going to win re-election. The Democratic party has been decimated and there seems to be no attempt at figuring out what they can do to rebuild.

I remember seeing it live going “YESSS, they’re done for now!!” Oh, how naïve I was.

Now playing

My favourite Katrina moment would have to be this one vs S.E. Cupp on the Muslim ban proposal. I’ll never forgive her for making me like S.E., even if it was for just a brief moment, but it was nice to see the mask finally come off and for them (Trumpkins) to just say what they really mean:
