In the short story this is true, and mostly true here. Other than the prologue, she only starts having the "flashbacks" once she starts learning the language.

You could also say that the color green is a pretty fundamental part of reality, but some languages don't have a word for it and therefore the speakers don't see it.

I mean, the first episode of the series did have Cersei and Jaime in King's Landing and then in Winterfell. Obviously time passed between those scenes, but I'm always surprised when people act as though the show skipping tedious travel is new.

One of my favorite tiny detail of this episode is how in a convention with tons of guys, only women are standing around listening to the menstrual cup pitch. Dudes hate thinking about periods.
