Getting kids back into school is vital, not just because it provides childcare but because DL just further widens the gap between haves students and have-nots students. It is not a kindness to wave away three months (plus) of missed schooling for all ready struggling students.

“Those in power” are largely Republican or “Republican-lite” legislatures who don’t care about anyone except for their rich donors. However, the “Republican-lite” legislators can be brought around if there is enough Democratic influence.
