Just saw this tonight. Much better movie on its surface than it actually is. Its successes are overtly celebrated, meanwhile it is not a flawless film. Inevitable, flat scenes of dialogue are as frequent as the better ones, and the first chapter may be by far the best chapter. Much less eventful and artistically

Don't you think the theme at play, some of the performances (specifically Henri Douvry), and the comedy is enough to outweigh the lack of a script? I, too, see the value in writing and re-writing, and no doubt Silver's work is on the other side of the screenplay, but I think there's a good amount of value to Silver's

The Counselor is a great, great movie, filled with crazy characters, crazy scenes, nihilism, and some wild plot turns and shots. In short: it's a wild movie.
