There are enough interviews with Freddie saying he wants to be remembered for his musical legacy and refusing to talk about his sexuality, that I think it’s clear he didn’t want to be a poster boy for any cause. People just seem to be angry that he was private about those aspects of his life, and that people like

I think you’re right, and I think it’s not really how Freddy Mercury would have wanted his story to be told either. I don’t think he wanted to be known as the flamboyant gay/bi musician who died of AIDS. I think he’d want to be know as a musician first and foremost, and the movie was true to that.

I think a lot of people went into the movie expecting very specific things. I’ve seen complaints that it’s not two hours of sex, drugs, alcohol, and parties or complaints that the movie doesn’t focus entirely on Freddie’s sexuality and AIDS diagnosis. I don’t think anyone needs a two and half hour movie that focuses

Agreed. Bryan Singer was fired from directing, but retains director credit because movies are only allowed to list one director, so I don’t feel bad about supporting a movie that fired a predator from directing it.
I’m really glad they didn’t focus on Freddy Mercury’s death. I think Mercury would have wanted this to

Couldn’t agree more. It’s one of the very few times that I’ve gone to a movie panned by my favorite critics and had the exact different reaction to them. I found it extremely moving.

100% hard agree. It was a moving wonderful film and I really do not understand how it's been so harshly criticised. As a bi person how Mary reacts is how many people react when you tell them you're bi.

Honestly, I think people are being harsher on Bo Rhap than they would on most other biopics purely because it’s about a beloved celebrity. Most biopics are filled with inaccuracies or change timelines, but no one gets worked up over those because they tend to be biopics about people who aren’t celebrities.

Okay, I did see this movie, after reading all the criticism about it and you know what? It’s a damn good movie, very enjoyable, and Rami Malek does an amazing job. I don’t think they make it look like his sexuality is why he died, but they don’t focus a lot on his death in general. They focus on his life, which
