It's not a crack pipe. It's not desirable either, but that's not the criteria I'm measuring it by. It's nice price, but the motor needs to be in the back, with a turbo, for me to actually desire it...

If this wasn unmolested, I would NP the car on principle. This thing on the other hand... The parts may be JDM, but the reason you can get them over here is that no one over there wants them. Anyone with taste wouldn't either...
@jwilder204: I was just about to suggest this. A great car that ticks all the boxes.
@Heel-Toe: If the car is randomly locking up, then the driver should drive around that and nurse the car. That aspect of driving is a skill, not often employed anymore, but still a skill which matters. To me, I think that should be an aspect of the sport which remains. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
The front end re-do looks lame. The rest of the car looks the same to my eyes, and there was nothing redeeming about the car at all in terms of what it offered beyond the look.
@gm0n3y: I do too, but I don't prefer Fernando Alonso to have one in his GP Ferrari doing the work for him.
@Isetta: I need that pic in high-res. Very, very badly.
@Heel-Toe: Yes, call me a primitivist. If a race is a contest of driving skill, then why have a computer do the driving for you? I have no problem with passive safety features in race car design. I do not feel that it is appropriate to have active driver aids doing the work so that driver skill is not tested. …
@gm0n3y: Possibly. However, given the current economic climate and the ardent desire among the manufacturers to not get into spending wars in different racing series, it is unlikely that hybrids are coming to every series over night. The technology will come, but slowly, with spec/rigidly controlled systems in most…
@Cheeseslap spanks his ACR for being good: It looks much less "drippy" than the Sonata to my eyes. There's a fair bit more tension to the lines. I think the Elantra may have been the car the look was designed around, with things then "scaled-up" for the Sonata, as the front end never seems to completely work on that…
I saw one of the new Elantras in traffic on Friday. At the moment, definitely it's the best-looking car in its class to my eyes, and the technical side seems most appealing too.
@Edmund Hershberger: The flywheel system used by Porsche is the Williams system. Spinelli failed in this article to give that credit where it was due. Yes, a lot of teams developed KERS. Williams developed their KERS idea into an actual viable business which is being patronized by other major companies. Most…
@Xander Crews: Damn straight. Full respect to Williams for actually designing and building the hybrid system in the first place. They're the ones deserving an awful lot of the credit, as it's their system.
@gallahad: No, I mean lame because the drivers should have the responsibility of not locking the brakes up on their own. Safety technology is great on road cars. But electronic aids have no place in a competition of driving skill in my view.
Currently that car would be eligible for something only with very open rules. I think that the only series it could be destined for is the VLN series in Germany (the guys who put on the Nurburgring 24 event). That was were the GT3R Hybrid debuted, and is the only series which has rules which would let it compete. …
I really like the car, and I have a lot of respect for Glickenhaus. Yes, he is filthy rich, but he's a genuine gearhead actually intent on using the cars his money has purchased, and using them properly. Also, he seems to have considerably fewer than Jay Leno, meaning that the cars genuinely get driven, rather than…
@juicysushi: curse you nibbles! I hope your wretched little furry self chokes to death on a sunflower seed while lounging in the water dish, with your offspring poisoned by drinking from the water soaking your corpse!
