IIRC, a very good piece about his life points to the sudden death of his father as the point he began to go off the rails.

Many accounts of his life conclude that he went off the rails after the death of his father. It’s possible it was a combination of the two but I would also imagine not having a strong father figure and thus falling in with the wrong sort of crowd could lead to this kind of behavior.

He probably started playing football in grade school. So from age ~12 until his last game he played football every year.

You can’t discount four years playing college ball at the UofF, as well as four years of high school football where he frequently played on both offense and defense.

I totally agree with you, but you cannot disregard the years of Pop Warner, High School, College, practice, etc...

He only played in 44 career games and still had severe CTE.
