I need to point out that the reasonable pay was due to unions. Even if coal mining suddenly had a resurgence and the jobs became plentiful, the demonization of unions means the jobs wouldn’t be good by any definition.

Exactly, that’s the point I’m going for. There is nothing great about mining jobs, and never has been, other than that they were available and paid reasonably well. The policy for states where there were once mining jobs shouldn’t be creating more mining jobs, it should be creating more good jobs in other industries…

I agree about the press - but this would come from the FBI and the special counsel. The more pressure they apply, (maybe naivete showing here) the harder it is for the press and Congress to ignore their jobs
