I don't know. They didn't show what happened subsequently. We only know that Harold went to visit his father one last time, his mind now addled due to Alzheimer's, before shedding his former identity.
From the dialogue, it seems like an uncertain ending. "Did we win? Did we lose? I'm not sure what winning feels like anymore". It doesn't get more ambiguous than that.
